My name is Angela Rose + I’m an East Coaster IN LOVE WITH HAWAII. While I love connecting with others; I’m a complete introvert who enjoys spending time in solitude + nature and I feel most at home among the water or the wildflowers.
As a very young child, I had a deep connection to the power of my intuition. But it took me a while to tap into the power of the intersectionality of my identity, my family history, and my sense of self in this crazy world.
My parents were married just a decade after The Supreme Court announced its ruling in Loving v. Virginia which struck down laws against interracial marriage on June 12, 1968. This was Their story and it took my a while to Realize the power of my own Story.
My Italian mother would say, “Pay attention and LISTEN very closely to what everyone has to say, especially if they don’t look like you, especially if they don’t speak your language.” She was referring literally to my West-African father speaking in a different language with his friends. And as I grew older, I learned that I had also honed in on listening to MYSELF, even if I didn’t always understand it.
Though we might not be able to make sense of why this pain is happening - the break up, the job loss, the fertility challenges, the divorce - this is an opportunity for rebirth and new levels of self-mothering. Pain is a part of birth, but it’s also AN OPPORTUNITY TO BECOME A MORE COMPLETE VERSION OF OURSELVES.
